POSITIVE PARENTING FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS is a new course for parents. This course runs Mondays, 9 am, March 19, April 2, 23, 30, May 14, and June 4. The fee is $25 per person or $35 per couple. This includes all materials and applies for the whole year, as this is an ongoing program. All are welcome at any time.
FATHERâS NIGHT â An evening for dads only! No fee.
POSITIVE PARENTING is the popular NYS program geared for parents of pre-school and elementary school students. This practical, common sense approach to parenting is a 5-week program beginning on Thursday, March 15, from 7 to 8:30 pm and continuing on March 22, 29, April 5 and 12. Fee is $25 per person and $35 per couple, which includes all materials.
It is necessary to register for all parenting courses.
NEW MOMSâ SUPPORT GROUPS â
This group will begin the week of March 19. The various possibilities are as follows:
Moms with children from birth to one year, Wednesdays from 10 to 11 am.
Moms with children 8 to 18 months, Fridays from 11 am to noon.
Please sign up ASAP for the above groups as they tend to fill very quickly.
âLunch Bunchâ for moms and children who have already been in a group and would like to continue getting together. Bring your lunch and join us beginning Monday, March 19, at noon in the Parentsâ Corner. Special speakers and other activities are planned. Just drop in when you are free.
NYS OPEN HOUSE INFORMATION
We are looking for energetic, creative, enthusiastic people who may be interested in joining our Board of Directors or helping the agency as a âFriend of Youth Services.â
Please join us from 7 to 8 pm on Monday, March 19, at the Newtown Youth Servicesâ offices at 41-A Main Street. If interested in attending or for information, please call 270-4335.
POPULAR EVENT RETURNS
Ticket are going quickly for Newtown Youth Servicesâ Dinner Dance and Auction on March 17, 7 pm at the Fireside Inn. This fun fundraising event features fabulous professional âimpersonators,â great food, plenty of dancing, amazing auctionables, and door prizes. Tickets are $35 per person. For info, please call NYS.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS FORÂ MIDDLE SCHOOLERS:
14TH ANNUAL NYS TALENT SHOW AUDITIONS
Tuesday, March 27, and Thursday, March 29, 3 to 5 pm. Monday, April 2, and Wednesday, April 4, 4 to 6 pm. Participants must call 270-4335 for an audition time.
4-H: Wednesdays, 4-5:30 pm. Harvest your own flowers and vegetables in a garden plot you design yourself! Help us build a Butterfly Plant Nursery, a Childrenâs Theme Garden, and a Chicken and Rabbit Garden. Plant a row for the hungry in our garden and bring your pet to our pet show. We meet at NYS, so come and join us.
You must call Newtown Youth Services, 270-4335, to sign up for all programs. This is for grades 6, 7, and 8.
YOUTH GROUP MEETINGS
THE HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD (HS YAB) will meet on Monday, March 26, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD (MS YAB) Ââ Meeting was postponed due to snow. Please watch for new meeting dates.
NYCAAP will meet on Tuesday, March 20. Meeting time is 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
