Important Meeting On Student Fees
Important Meeting On Student Fees
To the Editor:
I would like to let everyone know that there will be a Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, November 5, at 7:30 pm, at Canaan House in Fairfield Hills.
I am told that the participation fee for all clubs will be on the agenda. I hope that you will all come out, and get the facts on this controversial issue. From some of the letters that have been published in The Bee over the past few weeks, it is clear that many people do not understand the ramifications of such an expensive fee. Nor do they realize that many of the clubs do have fees attached. For example: every Drama Club member involved in a play is required to sell $120 worth of ads, or pay the $120 in cash. Also, each Marching Band Student pays $195 to be a member. (Some students may be involved in both clubs, costing an additional $80) They are also asked to participate in at least two fundraisers per year. Perhaps the additional $40 would make participation in these clubs unattainable for some kids. Letâs all work together to come up with a more reasonable solution to this budget problem.
See you at the meeting!
