WATERBURY – Some 15 members of the Porco Karate Academy competed in the annual scholarship tournament held in September at Teikyo Post University in Waterbury. More than 200 students from all over New England participated.

All participants were encouraged to compete in all three categories that included board breaking, forms, and free sparring.

From Porco’s – Jason Lamonte (2nd in breaking), Christina Parks (first in breaking and third in forms), Sarah Miles (second in forms and third in breaking), Chris Perry (second in sparring and second in forms), Amelia Schwartz (second in forms), Zoe Rabinowitz (third in sparring), Nancy Gilbert (first in sparring and first in breaking), Phil Rodriguez (second in sparring), Lauren D’Amico (first in sparring, first in breaking and third in forms) and Lisa Doersch (third in sparring, third in breaking and third in forms).
