Keith Gotthardt then scored his touchdown to give the Nighthawks a 13-0 halftime lead. The jayvees did equally as well, pounding Jonathan Law, 30-6. The big plays of the night were touchdowns by Kevin Whipkey, Joe Gantert, Tim Byrne and Simon Censabella and a big quarterback sack by Freddie Forrester.

Whipkey opened the scored with his touchdown, putting Newtown ahead, 7-0. Gantert recovered a fumble and shortly after caught a 35-yard touchdown pass. Byrne caught a 45-yard touchdown pass and later Whipkey hit Censabella on a five-yard scoring pass on the halfback option.

The offense was also sparked by a 55-yard run by Kyle Kirch while the defense was led by Dave Wesley and his interception. Jonathan Law bobbled a handoff near its own goal line and was tackled for a safety.
