Breast Center Talks On Healing

Through Photos, Genetics

FAIRFIELD — Bridgeport Hospital’s Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center will offer two free lectures in September at its 111 Beach Road location in Fairfield.

“Healing Through Photography” will be presented 6 to 7:30 pm, Tuesday, September 23, by nature photographer Genevieve Shulick, who will discuss how photography helped her overcome the death of her mother.

On Wednesday, September 24, from 1 to 2:30 pm, Breast Care Center Senior Nurse Educator Sally Cascella will discuss how two specific genes, BRCA 1 and BRCA 2, play a role in preventing breast and ovarian cancer, and whether women should undergo testing for these genes.

Part of the Norma F. Pfriem Cancer Institute at Bridgeport Hospital, the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center has served more than 15,000 women and their families since it was established in 1999.

A member of the prestigious National Consortium of Breast Care Centers, the center provides a wide range of diagnostic care and treatment at Bridgeport Hospital, including medical oncology, surgical and chemotherapy services, as well as mammography and radiation therapy, genetic risk assessment and opportunity for clinical trials.

The Breast Care Center office in Fairfield provides surgical services, medical oncology, nutrition counseling, massage therapy, wig and prosthesis fitting, and other patient support activities.

Registration is required for both events. Call 203-255-5300.
