Richter To Host Pre-Season Benefit Event At Café On The Green
DANBURY â Musicals at Richter, celebrating its 22nd season as the longest-running outdoor theater in Connecticut, will kick off preparations for its 2006 season on Sunday, May 21, with âSpring Fever,â a gourmet brunch and benefit auction at Café on the Green.
The festive afternoon will start at 1 pm and features a delicious gourmet brunch, musical entertainment by veteran Richter performers, and a variety of silent and live auction items. All proceeds will benefit Musicals at Richter, a nonprofit theater company dedicated to presenting three full-scale musicals at Danburyâs scenic Richter Park each summer, along with a daytime childrenâs play series at Wooster School.
Chaired by Musicals at Richter Vice President Terry Tabler of Newtown with assistance from Jody Bayer of Danbury and Lisa Petrovich of Newtown, âSpring Feverâ will be the third annual fundraiser for the summer theater organization.
Auction items range from autographed Broadway show memorabilia to specialty goods and premium services including gift baskets, event and attraction tickets, Maclaren baby strollers, a catered dinner by a Cordon Bleu-trained chef, and weekend getaway packages.
âThereâs truly something for everyone at this auction,â said Bradford Blake, the founder and president of Musicals At Richter. âWe hope many people will come join us for a great afternoon out. Itâs a delicious and entertaining way to spend a spring Sunday and support Richterâs terrific summer season.âÂ
The 2006 main stage musical season will feature Damn Yankees, June 22 to July 8; Titanic, July 13-29; and The King and I, August 3-19.
Fairy Tale Theater will resume its Saturday morning offerings on July 8 at Wooster School, also in Danbury. Longtime Danbury area performer and educator Elyse Jasensky directs a 15-member ensemble of young performers in hour-long versions of classic tales such as Cinderella, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Emperorâs New Clothes, Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin and Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Tickets for âSpring Feverâ are $35 per person, which includes hors dâoeuvres, a full buffet brunch, musical entertainment, and the silent and live auctions. A cash bar will be running.
Brunch begins at 1 and the program will conclude at 4 pm.
