Walter            Laaksonen

Walter Laaksonen, 90, a longtime resident of Darien, died July 5 at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was born on June 21, 1915, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Mr Laaksonen is survived by four children, Paul A. Laaksonen of Newtown, Amy A. Payson of Trumbull, Lisa L. Ingraham of New Canaan, and Myra L. Freiman of Madison. He is also survived by nine grandsons and one granddaughter. He was predeceased by his wife Armida in 1984.

Mr Laaksonen served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a retired owner of a direct marketing company in New York City.

An avid gardener, he shared his love of nature with his grandchildren.

A private family funeral service was held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, Darien. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
