Walk To Fight Women’s Cancers

BRIDGEPORT — St Vincent’s Medical Center Walk to Fight Women’s Cancers will be held at noon on June 24 at Captain’s Cove in Bridgeport. The four-mile course winds through Black Rock and along scenic St Mary’s By the Sea.

Walkers are encouraged to raise $50 in sponsorships. However, there is no minimum donation to the Walk. Star 99 radio, a co-sponsor of the event, will broadcast live from the walk and provide music and entertainment for walkers. Food also will be available for participants at the end of the walk.

Sikorsky Aircraft and Teamsters Local 1150 are co-sponsoring the event and look to raise $75,000 through this year’s event. In 2000, the Walk raised $66,000 to benefit women with cancer and their families. The Walk is part of St Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound that supports 33 cancer prevention, education and screening programs that helped more than 15,000 people across the state last year.

To register for the Walk, call St Vincent’s Foundation at 203-576-5451 or log onto www.swimsound.org.
