Gary William Morgan, 50, beloved father, son, and brother died October 22 at Yale-New Haven hospital after a brief illness. Born in Jamaica, N.Y., on September 30, 1956, son of Robert K. Morgan and the late Margaret Mary Morgan of Newtown, he had been residing in Waterbury. He was a 1974 graduate of Bishop Kendrick Catholic High School in Norristown, Penn., and a 1980 graduate of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.
Besides his father, Gary is survived by his daughter, Jennifer, of Milford; brother, John Morgan and his wife, Nicole, of Manchester; sisters, Suzanne Morgan of Bethel and Mary Kaye Lake and her husband, Ellsworth, of Peterborough, N.H.; nieces, Sarah Weiner of Port Jervis, N.Y., and Sophia Lake of Peterborough, N.H.; and one nephew, Sam Weiner of Port Jervis, N.Y.
Mr Morgan had a creative mind and loved to write, play guitar, fish, and golf. During his early years after college he wrote for Golf Digest. He endeavored in graphic design work while running his printing press, always finding joy in his creativity. In the most recent years Gary drove for the local HART Bus Company in Danbury before moving to Waterbury.Â
While in Waterbury Mr Morgan continued to be a peaceful man, enjoying his solitude and daily reflections of his religious beliefs; there was even interest in pursuing deeper vocations in his faith. Prior to his death, Mr Morgan was considering the establishment of a âNational Fund for the Homeless.â
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 2, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Burial will be at the St Rose Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on Wednesday, November 1, from 6 to 9 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr Morganâs name may be made to the Yale-New Haven Hospital, Office of Development, The Clinical Cancer Facility Fund, PO Box 1849, New Haven CT 06508.
