Eddison Will Present Container ‘Gardens To Go’

ROXBURY — Acclaimed author and gardener Sydney Eddison will explain how to create beautiful container gardens when she speaks at Minor Memorial Library on Sunday, May 28, at 4 pm. A tea reception will follow Ms Eddison’s slide presentation and there will be ample opportunity for questions from the audience.

Ms Eddison, a Newtown resident who teaches at The New York Botanical Garden, has drawn on her study of Monet, van Gough, Turner and others to develop new ideas for gardens that grace terraces, archways, walls, fountains and pools.

She has written several best-selling books that cover particular gardening topics: gardens in winter, daylilies and the use of color, among others. Signed copies of her newest book, Gardens to Go: Creating and Designing a Container Garden, will be available for sale at the talk.

The program is a benefit to raise money for the library and will also include a silent auction of donated container garden arrangements.

As seating is limited, the library suggests reservations. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Make checks payable to Minor Memorial Library and mail to Mary Schinke, POB 165, Roxbury CT 06783.

Tickets will be mailed to people whose checks are received before May 18; after May 18 tickets will be held at the door.

For additional information call Ms Schinke at 860-210-7836.

Minor Memorial Library, at 23 South Street, is handicapped-accessible.
