His loving daughters, Anne Mastroianni, and her husband Randall Dieckman, of Newtown and Mary Therien, and her husband Harold, of Stratford; four cherished grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; many longtime friends and neighbors; and his special friend Frances Pettinella survive Mr Mastroianni. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Barbara; and his sister Jennie DeLuca.
A proud veteran, Mr Mastroianni served in the Air Force as a radar technician from 1951 to 1955. After earning an electrical engineering degree, he was able to continue serving his country by working for the defense industry as a radar research engineer at Norden Systems, until his retirement in 1989. He was involved in developing state-of-the-art radar systems, of which some concepts are now used in military radars and in commercial aircraft.
