Winners Of Safety Poster Contest
Announced
Kevin Spieker, a sophomore from Sandy Hook, was among the 23 area students who have been named local winners in the AAA Traffic Safety Poster Contest.
Kevin, who is a home-schooled student, developed a poster illustrating the theme of alcohol awareness and entered the poster in the grade 9 through 12 category. This year, participants were asked to illustrate a particular theme for their division. Kevin chose a simple but catchy slogan, âThink, Donât Drinkâ for his winning poster.
Winners received certificates and Barnes & Noble gift cards for their winning posters that illustrated one of several traffic safety slogans.
The Connecticut Motor Club winners will now compete on the regional and national level for more than $18,000 in AAAâs 62nd Annual Traffic Safety Poster Competition. National award winners will be announced in May.
More than 300 students from 25 schools in the area participated in the local contest, which Connecticut Motor Club conducts annually to generate a greater awareness of safe traffic practices among elementary and high school students.
