Dressage Clinic On June 1
The Friends of the Second Company Governorâs Horse Guard will host a Westchester Fairfield Dressage Association (WFDA) Clinic/Demonstration with two-time Olympian Lendon Gray at 4 Wildlife Drive from 8:30 am-4:30 pm on June 1.
The theme is âDressage is for Every Horse.â Many breeds will be seen, including a Mustang, a Cobb, Quarter Horse and a Draft-cross. Dressage is a discipline of riding that is sometimes referred to as ballet on horseback. The most famous performers are the Lippizaner horses from Vienna. Dressage competitions are held at all levels from amateur to the Grand Prix level in the Olympics.
Gray will work with each horse and rider to achieve goals depending on breed and ability. An all day pass to audit is $25, and may be paid the day of the clinic. RJ Masterbug, the horse featured in the Disney film âHidalgoâ will have a session with Gray, ridden by Cari Swanson. Although there are bleachers, auditors may want to bring lawn chairs. Information is available at www.wfdadressage.com or by calling 2nd Lieutenant Jennifer Mazzara at 426-9046.
