John Geoghan

Vietnam Veteran,

Volunteer

John M. Geoghan, age 64, of Shelton, died at his home on Monday, February 4. He was the brother of Paula Schaible of Newtown.

Mr Geoghan was born in Derby on October 2, 1943, the son of Julia V. Dunaj Geoghan and the late Warren Louis Geoghan. Mr Geoghan graduated from Shelton High School in 1961 and Housatonic Community College. He served with the US Navy during Vietnam.

Mr Geoghan was a volunteer at West Haven Veterans’ Hospital for more than 14 years. He was a member of the Derby and Shelton Senior Centers, the American Legion Sutter-Terlizzi Post 16, and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Comcowich-Carver Post 597.

In addition to his sister and brother-in-law Elmer Schaible of Newtown, Mr Geoghan is survived by another sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and James Hamuka of the Villages, Fla.; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were scheduled at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street in Derby, on Thursday, February 7, from 4 to 7 pm. His funeral will leave the funeral home on Friday at 10 am for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Shelton. Burial will follow at St Michael’s Cemetery, Derby.
