Unnecessary Obstacles
Unnecessary Obstacles
To the Editor:
I am writing you in support of the Leaps of Faith Disabled Water Ski Club and its ability to continue to provide clinics for individuals with disabilities.
Leaps of Faith Disabled Water Ski Club is a fantastic nonprofit organization that provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to learn and excel at water skiing. Through monetary donations and countless volunteers, this club is able to reach out to many people that would otherwise never be able to experience the thrill of cutting across the water on water skis in a safe, supportive, specially adapted, well organized clinic.Â
As coordinator for the Sports Association at Gaylord Hospital, a provider of sports and recreation for persons with physical disabilities in Connecticut, I can tell you that without the devotion, talent, and resources provided by the Leaps of Faith water ski club there would be no opportunities for disabled athletes to learn water ski here in Connecticut. You have a unique and fantastic resource in your town that Iâm sure you recognize.
I am saddened and confused to witness the unnecessary obstacles that have been created by the Lake Zoar Authority, making it more and more difficult for Leaps of Faith to fulfill its mission and fulfill the lives of Connecticut athletes.
I hope the residents and governments of Sandy Hook, Southbury, Monroe, and Oxford support the Leaps of Faith Water Ski Club and not let the Lake Zoar Authority overburden and hinder their ability to provide these clinics.
I hope you will support Leaps of Faith in continuing to provide adaptive water ski clinics for the disabled as they always have; safely and affordably.Â
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Todd Munn, CTRS
Sports Association Coordinator
