Route 302

Police said they stopped motorist Charles DosSantos, 38, of 119 Dodgingtown Road for driving 52 miles per hour in a 40-mph zone on Route 302 at about 7:30 pm on January 15.

Police said that on investigating, they smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle that DosSantos was driving, so they brought in their German shepherd to investigate.

Police said they charged DosSantos with traveling too fast, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia (smoking pipe).

DUI Arrest

Police report a two-vehicle accident on Hawleyville Road, near the Exit 9 interchange of Interstate 84 at about 11:08 am on January 16.

Police said motorist Gbolagunte Laosebikan, 55, of Philadelphia was driving a 2006 Range Rover SUV southward on Hawleyville Road, as motorist Marcio Figueiredo, 35, of Ridgefield was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck northward on that road.

The Range Rover then made a left turn directly in front of the Dodge, resulting in a collision, police said. Figueiredo was transported to Danbury Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released, police said.

Police said they charged Laosebikan with driving under the influence, failure to grant the right of way, and driving without a license,

Laosebikan was released on $1,000 bail for a January 31 court appearance, police said.
