Thelma K. Bor

Thelma K. Bor, formerly of New Haven, died in Margate, Fla., on October 8, wife of the late Joseph Bor. She was the mother of Marsha Parker and grandmother of Sarah Ruth Parker, both of Newtown.

Mrs Bor was the daughter of the late Sarah Goldhammer and Morris Korn; brothers David Korn and Irving Korn and sister Beatrice Schneider predeceased her.

Mrs Bor was born on January 15, 1910, in New Haven. She graduated from Hillhouse School and New Haven State Normal School. She taught mentally retarded children before the Depression. Earning credit for her years of teaching, she qualified as a social worker for Connecticut State Welfare Department, working with Medical Care for the Aged from which she retired at 62. She and her husband moved to Margate several years later.

Calling hours will be the afternoons of Friday, October 12, and Sunday, October 14, at 12 Cobblers Mill Road, Sandy Hook.

Graveside services will be at Mishkan Israel Cemetery, Jewell Street, New Haven, on Friday, October 12, at 1 pm.

Donations may be made to Parkinson Disease Association, Connecticut Chapter, 27 Allendale Drive, North Haven, CT 06473.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, 543 George Street, New Haven.
