Alice W. McCarthy

Alice W. McCarthy, 88, wife of the late Henry McCarthy, of Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown, died November 22, at her home.

Mrs McCarthy was born in Bridgeport, June 27, 1916, a daughter of the late Alfred and Ellen (Maguire) Winspur. A longtime resident of Stepney and Newtown, Mrs McCarthy was a hairdresser and was the owner of the former Silhouette Beauty Shop in Bridgeport until her retirement.

Survivors include a brother, Alfred Winspur, and a sister, Virginia Mackro, both of Newtown. She was predeceased by three brothers, Matthew, David, and Donald Winspur, and by two sisters, Grace Corning and Catherine Lewis.

A graveside service will be held Friday, November 26, at 11 am in St Rose Cemetery, Newtown. There are no calling hours.

Arrangements are by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
