Living With Death And Dying

The St Rose Parish Nurse Ministry will present a program “Living With Death and Dying” on Sunday, March 18, at 7:30 pm at St Rose School. The program is open to the public.

The program will present a multi-faceted look at the subject through a panel of four people experienced in the medical, emotional, legal, and other aspects of death and dying.

Tom Davis, a lawyer and Newtown resident who teaches bio-ethics at St Joseph’s Seminary, will talk about the legal and ethical dilemma that dying can pose for the patient and the family, and the church’s position on life-ending decisions.

Dennis McCann, a Newtown resident who is a pastoral counselor at St Vincent’s Hospital, will discuss the spiritual conflict, the support that is needed, and how it can be found.

Lynn O’Brien, former director of Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, will discuss pain control, what’s available, and how the body responds to death.

The program will be held in the Msgr Conroy meeting room at the school.
