G. Leonard Anderson, Jr

G. Leonard (Lenny) Anderson, Jr, 76, of Monroe, died March 16 in his home.

He is survived by a daughter, Carol Galonczyk and her husband, Al, of Sandy Hook.

Born in Bridgeport, Mr Anderson lived in Monroe since 1953 and was the retired owner of Anderson’s Nursery of Monroe. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Agriculture and was a World War II Navy veteran. Mr Anderson was an active and charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Trumbull, and a member of the Connecticut Nurserymen’s Association.

Survivors also include his loving wife, Myrtle J. Anderson, of Monroe; daughters, Linda Torok and her husband, Don, of Seymour, and Diane Plude and her husband, Doug, of Naugatuck; five grandchildren, Christopher, Mirissa and Andrew Plude, Nicole and Brett Galonczyk; and three grand dogs, Angie, Haley, and Allie.

Funeral services were held March 20 in the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Trumbull, with the Rev Emil A. Witschy officiating. Interment was in Long Hill Cemetery.

The Spear, Dennis & D’Arcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford, was in charge of arrangements.
