Corruption And Incompetence

Permeates Washington

To the Editor:

A term in Congress isn’t a matter of public service anymore. For many politicians, it has become a way of life. It is a money-making venture, comprised of lecture tours, book writing and the never-ending donations from special interest groups.

No longer is this the land of the people by the people. There are 100 senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices that are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague our country. A total of 545 Americans out of 300 million have taken an oath to uphold the Constitution, the supreme law of the land, and have failed miserably.

If Democrats and Republicans are against deficits, why do we have deficits? If Democrats and Republicans are against inflation, why do we have inflation? If Democrats and Republicans are against high taxes, why do we have high taxes? Politicians create problems and then campaign against them. We need to clean up the corruption and waste in government. The facts speak the truth. Congress writes the tax code. Congress set fiscal policy. The level of irresponsibility, corruption, and incompetence permeates through Washington. It is a “con” game and both parties play the game, convincing the American people what they did is not their fault. It’s what they want!

We need to wake up and understand the severity of what lies ahead. The America of “many” is being strangled by the “few” in political office. We are under assault in our own backyards. The Constitution has been gutted. There is a socialist agenda by the President. He crosses the globe apologizing for America’s arrogance. Where is the accountability, let alone the apologies, for all the tax cheats in his administration? Spending needs to be reduced at all levels. No program should be exempt and not be affected by spending reductions. Gone is accountability, replaced with corruption. Gone is knowledge, replaced with ignorance. Gone is “we the people,” replaced with “greed is good.” For too long we have been rolling along the “dumbing down of America” highway. It’s sad to say, we now have arrived.
