Mary C. Crough-Smith, 50, beloved wife of Scott D. Smith of Newtown, died November 19 in Danbury Hospital after a short illness. Mary was born April 30, 1958, the daughter of Joe and Helen Crough, and raised in Rochester, N.Y.
She was a graduate of Brighton High School in New York, and earned an AS degree in agronomy and environmental science from Alfred State College in Alfred, N.Y. She was a resident of Newtown the past 25 years and was a friend of Bill W.
Ms Crough-Smith formerly worked at Perkin-Elmer, Pitney Bowes, and most recently at Agway of Bethel. She was a volunteer at the Newtown Senior Center and at Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut.
Her open heart and warm smile will be sadly missed by her many friends and family.
 In addition to her husband, Ms Crough-Smith is survived by a brother; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Saturday, November 22, at 10 am. Interment will take place at the direction of the family.
Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Friday, November 21, from 5 to 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
