KIMBELL ART MUSEUM WILL PRESENT SYMPOSIUM ON PORTRAITURE JUNE 16

AVV 5-2 #698699

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — In conjunction with the exhibition, “The Mirror and the Mask: Portraiture in the Age of Picasso,” the Kimbell Art Museum, will present a daylong symposium to initiate the exhibition on Saturday, June 16, from 10:15 am to 4 pm in the Darnell Street Auditorium.

Moderated by Malcolm Warner, the symposium will feature leading scholars who will consider the fate of portraiture in the modern age and the engagement of particular modern artists with this most traditional genre: Susan Grace Galassi, author of Picasso’s Variations on the Masters, 1996, Sabine Rewald, curator of the recent exhibition, “Glitter and Doom: German Portraits from the 1920s,” (Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City); and John Klein, author of Matisse Portraits, 2001. The symposium is free and requires no reservations.

The museum is at 3333 Camp Bowie Boulevard. For information, 817-332-8451 or www.kimbellart.org.
