Children’s Programs

*Gingerbread House Workshop:  It’s time for our annual gingerbread house workshop for children ages 4-10. This year’s program will be on Saturday, December 13, from 2 to 3 pm, and the program is being sponsored by Camp Playland in Redding, so there is no fee.

Space is limited, however, to 60 participants. You must sign up in person at the children’s desk; no phone registrations will be accepted.

Each child will decorate a small pre-assembled graham cracker house with royal icing and festive candies.

The houses are not edible, but you can enjoy eating the candy while you decorate.

Adult & Family Programs

*Upcoming Book Discussions: The Non-Fiction Book Group will talk about The Places In-Between by Rory Stewart on Monday, December 1, at 1 pm; and The Daytime Book Group will discuss The Passion of Artemesia by Susan Vreeland on Tuesday, December 9, at 1 pm.

Multiple copies of both books are available at the circulation desk. Everyone is invited!

*Identifying Possible Delays: The final program in the series “Identifying Possible Delays in Your Child’s Language, Social Skills and Learning” will be a panel discussion called “Learning About Additional Services in the Community.”

Presented on Tuesday, December 2, at 7 pm, the panel will include Occupational Therapist Lynn Friebel, Music Therapist Barbara Baker, Aquatic Physical Therapist Gina Bradbury and Pediatric Occupational Therapist Cindy Freedman. The evening will include a discussion on some special talents often found in children with special needs.

Danbury School Psychologist Joan Nash will again moderate.

Registration is requested; call the library.

*Picture Magic – The Art of Digital Manipulation: A hands-on computer workshop on Thursday, December 4, from 7 to 9 pm, will help participants explore free Internet resources to organize, correct and share digital images, and create digital photo albums, slide shows and photo prints.

Instructors are Kenneth Graff and Anne Eigen. This class is for adults and is limited to ten people.  There is no charge.

C.H. Booth Library is open Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 8 pm; Friday from 11 am to 5 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm; and Sunday from noon to 5 pm (closed Sundays in July and August).
