September Antiques Show, Sunday At Edmond Town Hall

Newtown Historical Society will present its Annual Autumn Antiques Show this weekend. The show and sale will return to the gymnasium of Edmond Town Hall on Sunday, September 24, from 10 am to 4 pm. Nancy Taylor is again serving as the show manager.

“With the popularity of our Annual March Shows over the past 21 years the historical society decided several years ago to give our dealers and our customers another opportunity to view and purchase collections of antiques and collectibles,” said Mrs Taylor. “Collectors will find quality items spanning all areas of interests and eras.

“We are very proud of the diversity of dealers we attract to our shows and the quality of antiques coupled with the affordable prices,” she added.

Attendees can expect to find everything from antique rugs and tapestries, blanket chests, furniture and decorative accessories from the 18th and 19th centuries and lightning rods to antique prints, Royal Doulton, vintage and antique textiles and linens, primitive wood items, and yellowware.

Admission to the show is $5, with the proceeds of the fundraiser benefiting the historical society’s free public programs as well as the preservation of the Matthew Curtiss House Museum and its collections.

The circa 1750 Curtiss House, across the street at 44 Main Street, will also be open on September 24. Costumed docents will welcome visitors between 11 am and 4 pm, during which time there will also be ongoing demonstrations by Jenny O’Brien on the art of making folk art dolls.
