Mission Weekend At Newtown Christian Church

The community is invited to attend a service at the Newtown Christian Church on Saturday, October 11, at 7:30 pm at which Jim and Denise Hayes will speak about their ministry of “All God’s Children” in Zimbabwe, Africa.

Mr and Mrs Hayes are founders and directors of All God’s Children, a mission that responds to the needs of children who have been affected by AIDS. Some of the children have lost both of their parents to AIDS and others have the AIDS virus themselves. Jim and Denise Hayes saw a need and decided to plan and build a facility that would help the children.

Presently the facility has a medical building as well as four buildings that house the children who are orphaned. Future plans call for additional buildings to house more children as well as a church building.

The Newtown Christian Church recently raised support and collected supplies to fill a 20-foot container that was sent to the mission. The container was filled with clothes, school supplies, cribs, computers, and many other items that will be of help to the mission’s work.

A free-will offering will be taken at the service and given to the Hayes for their ministry.

The service is part of the Newtown Christian Church’s annual Mission Weekend on October 11–12. The purpose of the weekend is to update the congregation on the missions and missionaries they support throughout the year. It also provides an opportunity to remind the congregation why the church supports worldwide missions.
