Tree ID Program At Ordway Preserve
Tree ID Program At Ordway Preserve
WESTON â At the height of the leaf season, arborist and life-long Weston resident Fred Moore will reveal ways to simplify tree identification and also help participants understand the growing habits and needs of various trees. The free program will take place at The Nature Conservancyâs Katharine Ordway Preserve, at 165 Goodhill Road, on Sunday, October 1, from 1 to 3 pm.
The site for this program is the former estate of Katharine Ordway, a noted Nature Conservancy benefactor whose substantial financial gifts protected both the preserve named in her honor and the now 1,756-acre Devilâs Den on the Weston/Redding border, as well as thousands of acres from Maine to Hawaii. Her former estate comprises 62 acres with woodland trails and an arboretum.
Participants who are interested in learning more about the trees which give New England its famous autumn colors should call The Den at 203/226-4991 weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm for registration, information, or directions to the preserve.
