Gasoline Ignited On Cherry Heights Terrace
Fire officials are investigating an incident reported to them at 3:09 pm November 17, in which someone set fire to a plastic gasoline can containing two or three gallons of gasoline on Cherry Heights Terrace, near its intersection with Cherry Street in Sandy Hook.
Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company Chief Bill Halstead said that when firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire had already burned itself out. The fire did not cause any property damage, other than a stain on the road pavement, he said.
A Mitsubishi Eclipse coupe, which is either gray or silver-colored, was seen driving from the area after the incident, Chief Halstead said. The fire chief asked that anyone who has information about who set the gasoline can afire to contact him at the fire marshalâs office at 270-4370.
