POSTPONED TO DUE TO WEATHER

Thursday, January 25 – “Parenting in the Teen Zone,” first session.

Monday, February 5 – “Parents of Children with Special Needs.”

Detailed information on these programs follows:

PARENTING IN THE TEEN ZONE, for parents of middle and high school students, will begin on Thursday, January 25, and continue on February 1, 8, 15, and 22. The program begins at 7 pm. Perfect for parents trying to understand the ups and downs, ins and outs, and do’s and don’ts of parenting a teem or almost teen. This is a five-week session and the fee is $25 per person or $35 per couple, which includes all materials.

POSITIVE PATENTING FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS is a new course for parents. This course runs Mondays, 9 am. Dates for the new year are January 22, February 5, 26, March 5, 19, April 2, 23, 30, May 14, and June 4. The fee is $25 per person or $35 per couple. This includes all materials and applies for the whole year, as this is an ongoing program. All are welcome at any time.

It is necessary to register for all parenting courses.

FATHERS’ NIGHT – Monday, February 26 will be the next Fathers’ Night.

AN INFORMATIVE COMMUNITY PANEL: “SUBSTANCE AND TODAY’S TEENS” – Wednesday, February 7, at 7:30 pm in the Newtown High School Lecture Hall.

Popular Event Returns

Newtown Youth Services once again sponsors its Dinner Dance and Auction on Saturday, March 17, 7 pm at the Fireside Inn. This fun fundraising event features fabulous professional “impersonators,” great food, plenty of dancing, amazing actionables, and door prizes. Tickets are $35 per person. For info, please call NYS.

4-H Clubs – Ongoing

Fourth and fifth grades continue to meet on Monday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:30. Middle School grades meet on Wednesdays, from 4 to 5:15. Both groups will meet at NYS. Membership is free but space is limited. For additional information or to register, please call the office.

After School Programs For Middle Schools:

BOYS’ CIRCUIT TRAINING – 6 WEEKS – SESSION B

Learn everything you want to know from the professionals at Newtown Health and Fitness, where this session will be held. Mondays 1/29 to 3/12 – Time is 4 to 5 pm. Limit is 12. Fee is $50 (checks made out to Newtown Health and Fitness.)

DANCE – FOUR WEEKS – SESSION C

Learn popular, Latin, and folk dances and perform a recital at your last session! To be held at Newtown  Youth Services, Mondays 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, and 2/26. This last class will feature a recital. Time 4 to 5 pm – no fee.

You must call Newtown Youth Services, 270-4335, to sign up for all programs. This is for grades 6, 7, and 8.

Youth Group Meetings

THE HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD (YAB) will meet on Monday, January 29, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD (MS YAB) please check this column or YAB bulletin board for further dates.

NYCAAP will meet on Tuesday, January 30. Meeting time is 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
