Through August 29, The National Academy Of Design Exhibits "Paul Cadmus As

Curator"

NEW YORK CITY-- The National Academy of Design is exhibiting the fifth

installment of its series, "The Artist's Eye," with the exhibition "Men

Without Women: Paul Cadmus as Curator," which runs through August 29.

In the exhibition, Paul Cadmus focuses on the treatment of the male figure in

academic studies, portraits, landscapes, genre and historical paintings

through 66 works by 63 Academicians. William Merritt Chase, Kenyon Cox, George

Grosz, Reginald Marsh, Maxfield Parrish, Robert Rauschenberg, George Tooker

and N.C. Wyeth are among the represented artists.

Concurrently, a special installation of Cadmus's paintings loaned from museum

collections nationwide will also be on view, including "Bar Italia" (1953-55)

from the National Museum of American Art, Washington, D.C. and "The Fleets

In!" (1934) from the Navy Museum, also in D.C.

The Academy will also feature "All That Is Glorious: Hudson River School

Painting," which opens July 14 and runs though September 12.

The National Academy of Design is located at 1083 Fifth Avenue at 89th Street.

Hours are Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5pm and Friday 10am to 6pm.
