Boy Scout Membership Is On The Rise
MILFORD â Participation rates among the Boy Scouts of Americaâs (BSA) Connecticut chapter are rising, according to a report presented during the Connecticut Yankee Council, Incâs annual event. The seventh annual BSA Business Meeting was held on Thursday, January 29.
Youth membership currently includes 26,311 young men and women.
The council also reported a balanced budget for the fourth consecutive year and record attendance in the BSAâs summer programs.
Summer resident camp attendance has increased, in fact, by 45 percent since 1998.
In addition, thousands of hours were provided in good-turn projects to our local communities, including the collection of 74,688 food items during the annual Scouting for Food-Drive last fall.
Elections of Executive Board Members and Officers were also held. Elected officers included Douglas Machin (Camping) of Danbury and Brett West (Marketing/Public Relations) of Ridgefield.
Connecticut Yankee Council (formerly Fairfield County Council and Quinnipiac Council) serves more than 26,000 Cub Scouts (boys in first through fifth grades), Boy Scouts (boys ages 11 to 17), Venturers and Explorers (young men and women age 14 to 20), Learning for Life participants (boys and girls in grades K-12) and the Urban ScoutReach Program.
