Sturdevant Elected Chairman

Of Union Savings Bank

Charles F. Frosch, President and CEO of Union Savings Bank, announced the election of Richard L. Sturdevant as chairman of the Board of Trustees of Union  Savings Bank. Mr Sturdevant succeeds Thomas R. Nolan, who retired from the Board of Trustees on December 31, after 25 years, serving as chairman the past 16 years.

In commenting on Mr Strudevant’s election as chairman Mr Frosch stated, “I have known Dick for a long time and I look forward to his leadership in helping us to manage the future direction of the Bank. Union Savings Bank was chartered in 1866 by a group of individuals from Danbury including Dick’s great-great grandfather Elijah Sturdevant. I think we are unique in today’s banking environment to not only have the same name on the front door but also to have someone from a founding father’s family still involved in providing leadership to what has become the premier community bank in this region.”

Mr Sturdevant first joined the bank as a corporator in 1980 and was named a trustee of the board in 1982, and in recent years served as vice chairman of the board. He is the retired owner of Sturdevant’s Photo/Video Corporation, a family-owned photography store, which began operating in Danbury some 69 years ago.

Mr Sturdevant is involved in many professional and community organizations and in 1999 was appointed by Gov John G. Rowland to sit on the governor’s Small Business Advisory Council. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut. A lifelong area resident, Mr Sturdevant and his wife Marie reside in Newtown.

Union Savings Bank, headquartered in Danbury, is an $840 million mutual bank serving western Connecticut with 15 offices in Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, Kent, New Fairfield, Newtown, New Milford, Ridgefield, and Sharon
