Boys’ Track Team Wins Twice

Newtown High School’s boys’ outdoor track and field team defeated Oxford 101-41 and Notre Dame-Fairfield 123-3 at Blue & Gold Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Newtown’s overall winners are as follows:

Each of the relay teams, the 4x100, 4x400, and 4x800 meter squads all prevailed with wins. Individual winners included: 110 hurdles, John Hampford, 17.8; 100, Peter Kerns, 11.4; 1600, Jake Feinstein, 4:50; 400, Kerns, 52.1; 300 hurdles, Hamford, 44.5; 200, Kerns, 23.8; 3200, Feinstein, 10:12; long jump, Brandon Capaldo, 18-4; shot-put, Mac Morlock, 37-8.5; discus, Ralph Strocchia, 107-11; pole vault, Spencer Erhardt, 12-0.

The boys will next compete at against Masuk, Bethel, and Bunnell of Stratford at Masuk of Monroe on May 1. The NHS girls had their Monday home meet postponed by rain. It was scheduled to be made up on Wednesday (after The Bee sports section went to press).
