Richard H. Burdick, Sr, 70, of Old Litchfield Road, Washington, Conn., and Sebring, Fla., died May 3 at his home in Florida. He was the husband of Florence (VanTassel) Burdick.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Sherry Powell of Newtown and Gail Niles of Spartanburg, S.C.; two brothers, Phillip and Francis both of Danbury; four sons, Richard, Jr of Torrington, Daniel of Bethel, Donald of Brookfield, and David of Port St Lucie, Fla.; a daughter, Deborah Heck of Washington; and one granddaughter, Jessica Cancel of Gilbert, Ariz.
Mr Burdick was born December 10, 1935, in Danbury, son of Lois (Smith) Burdick of Newtown and Leon Burdick. He attended Brookfield Center School and Abbott Technical School. From 1979 to 1994 he was employed as a driver for Kimberly-Clark in New Milford. A member of the Eagles Club, his interests included local fairs, horse shows, and tractor pulls.
Funeral services were held May 10 at the Rowe Funeral Home, Litchfield. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington.
