Public Works Crews Very Much Appreciated
Public Works Crews
Very Much Appreciated
To the Editor:
Our Public Works Department in Newtown is doing an excellent job cleaning up after Irene, and Iâm compelled to thank them in writing for it.
Many leaves, branches and other debris littered Wills Road after the storm. Today I heard a town truck and sweeper make a first pass to clear it, but I had parked on the street last night, so the sweeper had no choice but to go around my car. I immediately moved it and called the Public Works Department to ask if they would radio the sweeper to make a âsecond passâ down my road to clear it completely. The woman who answered was very understanding and said she would try her best to contact them.
Imagine my surprise when Howard and Chris returned minutes later, and, very slowly, carefully, and thoroughly, guided their sweeper to remove the remaining large amount of debris! A few minutes later I was able to personally thank Chris in his truck, but decided to write this to thank all three employees, and the town, for this very meaningful consideration on their part.
I am a long-term resident of Newtown who is very satisfied with the performance of our Public Works Department and its employees.
It is my wish that you share this letter with the woman at Public Works who took my call this morning and with Chris and Howard.
Thank you all.
Appreciatively,
Nick Mastrocinque
