The Fed Isnât Federal Anymore

To the Editor:

Why hasnât Congressman Chris Murphy supported Ron Paulâs bill HR 1207? Why havenât the people of Newtown pressured him to do so? He works for us, not the other way around! He is one of the few congressmen that have not supported this bill.

âThe bill, if it becomes law, will expose how the Fed has consistently engaged the inflation of the currency for the gain of a few elite international bankers, further exposing how this kind of criminal action has directly led to financial crisis and recessions for decades.â

âAn audit would set the stage for the end of fraudulent fractional reserve banking and a return of honest money and fiscal policies.â

For those of you that do not know, the Federal Reserve is not Federal anymore than Federal Express! It is a private corporation consisting of international private bankers that illegally took over the issuance of currency in 1913. The voters certainly spoke — and I respect the outcome — but let’s not forget that a “majority” doesn’t mean everyone agreed. Many of us are deeply concerned about the rising cost of living here. Supporting schools and services is important, but so is ensuring that residents can afford to stay in the town they love. We all want Newtown to be a great place to live, but lately, it’s starting to feel less like “Nicer in Newtown” and more like “More Expensive in Newtown.” That’s not sustainable, and it’s not a criticism of the town itself — it’s a call for responsible budgeting and long-term planning that doesn’t rely on tax increases year after year. I hope future decisions will reflect not just the desire to maintain services, but also the need to ease the financial burden on residents.
