Countdown Begins For First Newtown Arts Festival
Countdown Begins For First Newtown Arts Festival
Starting this weekend, May 19, residents can have a taste of whatâs to come at this Septemberâs first Arts Festival sponsored by Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC).
During coming months NCAC members will be setting up information tables throughout town to provide information about the eventâs activities, offer advanced ticket sales, and variety of sponsorships. From time to time, NCAC will also be welcoming some of the artists to demonstrate their unique talents.
NCAC will kick off its campaign this weekend with members at Newtown Youth Academy at Fairfield Hills, as well as in Sandy Hook Center, between 1:30 and 3 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Members will also be at Edmond Town Hall on Saturday prior to the 7 pm performance of Flagpole Radio Café.
The Newtown Arts Festival will celebrate the many art forms enjoyed in the community, including creative arts and crafts, adult workshops, childrenâs activities, art demonstrations, music, dance, theater, poetry readings and, of course, food and lots of fun. The NCAC is now developing a jam-packed schedule for the festivities, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 15 and 16, at Fairfield Hills.Â
Professional and amateur artists and local nonprofit organizations are welcome to exhibit and share their work and talent at booths or through workshops. Performances at the band shell will continue day and night, offering a wide variety of entertainment, such as music, dance, drama, and comedy.
Admission to the festival will be $5 per person, with children ages 12 and under admitted for free.
Pre-event discounted tickets along with a special gift are available, and vendors and sponsors can sign up to participate, all online at NewtownArtsFestival.com.
