United Nations Day Concert

The Homesteads at Newtown is sponsoring a free United Nations Day Concert on Wednesday, October 24, at 2:30 pm with pianist Robert Fuller.

On Sunday, November 4, at 3 pm, The Homesteads will present a Portuguese dance performance by the folk group Portugal Canta e Dance. Formed at the Portuguese Community Center in Danbury in 1997, the group has performed in several states, Canada, and Portugal. The director is Manuel Cipriano. The group’s songs, dances, and costumes represent various regions of Portugal and its islands.

The Homesteads also is holding open houses from 1 to 4 pm on Sundays in October.

The Homesteads, an assisted living facility and age-restricted condominium, is at 166 Mt Pleasant Road (Route 25) in the Hawleyville section of Newtown. For more information call 426-8118.
