Helping Those In Need
Helping Those In Need
âThere have been a lot of disasters all over the world,â said 10-year-old Thomas Linse. âI feel really bad for the people, and hope that never happens to me,â he added.
So rather than just feel badly for those less fortunate, when Thomas saw the news about the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, he decided that he could help. He asked his family to give him cash for his birthday party, Sunday, March 27, to support the victims of the earthquake.
âI had a birthday party and sleepover with about eight friends the day before, and they gave me presents,â said Thomas. He knew he would not need more gifts, he said, and that is why he asked for cash donations for the family party scheduled the next day.
The Linse family and Thomas raised $275, which Thomas mailed, along with a letter, to the American Red Cross, so that it could be put to the best use in helping the disaster victims.
âIt makes me feel happy that we are helping somebody else. It makes me feel good inside,â said Thomas.
