Open Auditions For Town Players Production Of ‘Brighton Beach Memoirs’

Town Players of Newtown announces auditions for its July 2012 production, Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs.

Based on Simon’s own memoirs and set in 1937 Brooklyn, Brighton Beach Memoirs tells the coming of age tale of 15-year-old Eugene Morris Jerome, an average boy whose interests include girls, baseball and writing — and like every boy his age, his family seems to get in the way of his passions.

Directed by Lester Colodny of Fairfield, Brighton Beach Memoirs calls for the talents of three men and four women, ages 13-40. Auditions will take place at the theater, 18 Orchard Hill Road in Newtown, on Saturday and Sunday, April 21-22 from 7 to 9 pm. No appointment is necessary.

All roles are open, and auditions will consist of readings from the script.

Rehearsals will begin in early May. The production run is Friday and Saturday evenings July 6-28, with Sunday matinees on July 15 & 22.

Town Players is a non-profit community theater.
