Insurance Co. Seeks Teacher of the Year Award Nominations

MERIDEN — Teacher’s Insurance Plan, an auto insurance program exclusively for educators, has opened its nomination process for Connecticut’s 2003–04 Teacher of the Year award. The award will include $1,000 to the winning teacher in the state and a $500 grant toward that teacher’s school.

“We’re very excited about being able to honor one of Connecticut’s finest educators,” said Stephen T. Zerio, Teachers’ Insurance Plan’s manager for the state. “I have a feeling our selection panel will have their work cut out for them when they try to narrow the choices to just one winner!”

The insurance program is making this year’s nomination form available on line at www.teachers.com, as well as from schools throughout the state. Teachers, students, and parents can nominate any of Connecticut’s more than 50,000 accredited teachers between now and April 30. Teachers may also nominate themselves.

A panel of judges that includes both public and private school teachers, administrators, and union officials, as well as Teachers’ Plan senior management will select the teacher who has contributed to the betterment of his or her school, students, or educational community in a way that stands out among his or her colleagues in the state.

The winner will be announced June 1.
