Senseless Vandalism
Senseless Vandalism
To the Editor:
For the second year, Newtown Continuing Education and Newtown Parks and Recreation have teamed up with Stray Kats Theatre Company to present the Broadway Bound Summer Theatre Workshop for kids and, for the second year, someone doesnât want you to know about it.
Itâs quite amazing to me, actually. Weâve posted flyers from Southbury to Danbury and, whenever I go back to those locations, the flyers have been torn down. With the exception of a few stores in Newtown where the anonymity of the culprit might be in jeopardy, every poster has been torn down.
Not every child wants to be in the big, competitive musical. Our program offers a chance for every child who has a desire to perform and to study acting, voice and movement to get that chance. Broadway Bound does not audition its potential students. A desire to be there is all it takes. And the program does not do a full-length play or musical. Instead, it offers classes in the three disciplines and then applies the lessons learned to scenes, songs, and production numbers so that every child gets a chance to be featured. There are no stars. So who does this threaten? One can only imagine.
If you have any information about the person or persons targeting this program, please call 203-514-2221. Color flyers are costly. I would rather put that money toward quality teachers.
