Scholarships For Students Pursuing 'Helping Professions'
Scholarships For Students Pursuing âHelping Professionsâ
WETHERSFIELD â Fairfield County high school seniors considering a future in one of the âhelping professions,â including funeral directors, are invited to apply for funds from the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA).
For the fifth consecutive year, CFDA will present eight $500 scholarships â one to each student in each of the stateâs eight counties. The scholarship supports graduating high school seniors who are pursuing careers in a profession that provides emotional or medical support for families. This includes such fields as counseling, social services, psychology, psychiatry, nursing, medicine, social work, gerontology and funeral service.
âOur organization created this program to encourage young people to follow their dreams and consider careers where they can help families â just as funeral directors do every day,â said David G. Skinner, president of the CFDA. âWe understand how important it is to support others during difficult times and we hope to motivate more graduates to consider jobs where they will provide assistance to people in need.â
Deadline is April 16.
For more information, or to apply, contact the CFDA at 860-721-0234 or 800-919-2332. Applications can also be downloaded from the Associationâs website at www.ctfda.org.
