Hearing On

Rail Project

DANBURY — A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, January 30, in Danbury concerning a proposed project to explore the feasibility of re-electrifying the Danbury Branch Rail Line.

The hearing will take place at 7 pm in Conference Room 3C of Danbury City Hall, 155 Deer Hill Avenue. If inclement weather requires the postponement of this hearing, it will be held on January 31, at the same time and location.

At the hearing, public testimony will be accepted regarding an application the State Department of Transportation intends to make to the Federal Transit Administration for funds to determine the feasibility of the re-electrifying of the Danbury Branch Rail Line from Norwalk to Danbury. The project cost will be paid through $2 million in federal funds and a $500,000 state grant.

Written comments will be accepted by the DOT until the close of business on Friday, February 9. They should be addressed to the attention of Raymond G. Godcher, Connecticut Department of Transportation, PO Box 317546, Newington, CT 06131-7546. Written comments will be valued the same as oral testimony.
