Soccer Stars 4, American Eagles 2: For the Soccer Stars, Anna Moscovici, Maggie Beardsley and Cassidy Kortze combined for four goals. Bridgette Gattinani and Allie Tassiello played great games. For the American Eagles, Rylee Mulligan scored two goals on assists from Grace Sholtes. Grace Howgego, Joy Metzger and Emily Winch anchored the defense, and Lauren Carrino played a great all-around game.
American Eagles 1, Thundering Jaguars 0: For the American Eagles, Rylee Mulligan scored on an assist from Victoria Keayes. Kira Smith, Brianna Lovely and Lucy Scarangella played great defense, and Rachel Tomasino made several tremendous saves in goal. For the Thundering Jaguars, Greta Staubly anchored the defense and Carolina Stubbs made some great saves in goal. Julia Haskins and Tess Hubbard kept up the pressure offensively, and Alex Futterman was solid in midfield.
Wolverines 1, Lightning 1: Hana Rosenthal scored the goal set up by Sarah Simonson and Madeline Ceci. Kristina Goeree was terrific on offense and Emily Hartman, Gabrielle Reisert and Mary Hufziger led the defense.

Purple Penguins 4, Lightning Bolts 2: Allie Indelicato and Elizabeth Chamiec-Case each scored a goal for the Lightning Bolts. Goaltenders Christina Moore and Marina Renzi played well. Kiera Veillette led the Lightning Bolts defense. Anna Biondi scored a hat-trick and Jessica Maturo scored one goal to lead the Purple Penguins offense. Stefanie Carr and Katie Elkins played well in goal. Nicole Russo played a great overall game.
Crushers 1, Killer Tigers 0: For the Crushers, Claire Beiter scored the only goal, assisted by Julia Doyle. Alexandra Ferris and Alexis Tucker both had strong games in the goal and on offense. For the Killer Tigers, Tessa Leon-Gambette and Jillian DiMartino played brilliantly at midfield and Haley Taylor led the defensive effort with her hustle and determination.
Lighting 3, Funky Monkies 2: Katie Riley had three goals. The Lightning had solid all-round around play from Grace Larsen and Brianna MacDonald and timely goalkeeping from Maya Neuhoff. Molly Begg and Alexandra Manoni, (assisted by Taylor Pare) had goals for the Funky Monkies. Lauren Cirone and Anna Steare played well on offense and defense.
Thunder 4, Fairfield 0: Marissa Thill, Lucy Helgren, Makenna Cerney and Amanda Wikramayanake scored. Caitlin Linden, Olivia Caplan, Nevan Gattey and Grace Sandercox anchored a strong defensive effort as goalkeepers Lucy Helgren and Olivia Hamula earned the shutout.
Mustangs 5, Sharp Shooters 4: For the Mustangs, Danielle Scarpa, Lauren King and Jillian Pieretti each scored a goal and Megan Goyda scored twice.

Old Greenwich 3, Comets 0: Despite strong goalkeeping by Emily Charash and Alyssa Ruefenacht, the Newtown girls couldnât hold off their skilled opponents. Haley Trudell provided strong offensive pressure, and Mikayla Kuligowski created a nice scoring opportunity in the loss.
Comets 1, Monroe 1: Quinn Karp scored after a pass by Portia Baudisch. Brenna Kelly contributed to the play on both sides of the field and both keepers, Katie Mossbarger and Emily Charash, had key saves.
U12
Lightning 5, Monroe 0: Sarah Lynch had the Lightningâs first hat-trick of the season, while Kailee Dunnigan and Siena Cicarelli scored one each. Amy Martinelli was quick and aggressive in the midfield and Helene Sorensen played well on defense.
U14
Twisters 4, Tidal Waves 1: For the Twisters, goals were scored by Kerry Scallon, Lauren Sarna, Samantha Luzietti and Kat Jennings. Denise Kuban and Tess Stofka were strong on defense. For the Tidal Waves, Sierra Mather scored the lone goal on a penalty kick. Jesse Sailer was strong in goal and on defense. Ashley Maturo and Stephanie Devaney played well at midfield.
Cyclones 5, Muma Pumas 3: Emily Albrecht scored four goals and Eliza Eggleston scored to lift the Cyclones. Maren Stevens had a great half in goal and Nicole Mendonca played well in midfield. Fpr the Muma Pumas, Emily Campbell, Emily Clark and Samantha Dion each scored. Katie Clark and Gabby Kalinowski had excellent games in goal and Sierra Toomey and Anna Buzzanca played well.
Earthquakes 2, Smiters 2: The Earthquakeâs goals were scored by Sydney Allen and Meagan Foy. Christina Badiola, Cate Haggerty and Catherine Neave played well. The Smiters fought back to tie the game twice, first with a goal by Amanda Mele and then with a late tally by Rachel Karnoff. Emily Davis, Emma DeFlumeri and Aileen Sheluck played great all-around games.
Twisters 4, Smiters 1: For the Twisters, two goals were scored by Kerry Scallon, and one goal each was scored by Lauren Sarna and Isabella Saraceni. Haley Naphen and Jenna Hansen were strong on defense. Claire Miles scored the lone goal for the Smiters, and Amanda Martinez, Sophia deVivo and Elizabeth Wojcik had great games.

Cobras 1, Hawks 0: For the Cobras, Jacob Riley and Aidan OâLeary played well on offense and Nick Karla and J.T. Lewis secured the defense. For the Hawks, Matthew Blanco and Alan Xue both played well in offense. Harrison Farah played well in defense. Joe Pagett and Nick Weiland were strong on defense and had key saves in goal.

Team three 5 the Flipping Fladoodles 1: Goals for team three were scored by Sabastin, Jacob Harper, William Roberts, Connery Mayer and Theodore Silverman. Christian Marlock scored for the Flipping Fladoodles. Matthew Bucci and Ryan Kost played well and Jordan Klein and Kai Toomey made big saves for the Flipping Fladoodles.
The Storm 4, Stamford 1: Austin Engler scored for the The Storm. Stamford quickly tied it up to even the score 1-1 but two quick goals by Shane Gattey and a long blast by Michael Meyers gave The Storm the win. Hayes Kelchner and Tiernan Keene played great in goal, and Jamie Cochrane, Jack Riley and Forest Weatherby were solid on defense.  Â

State Cup
Westport 3, White Lightning 2: In the semifinals of the state cup, the White Lightning finally fell in double overtime 3 - 2. As time ran out, Michael Cook hit a perfect corner kick which was touched by two Newtown players before the Westport goalie fell on the ball. Jeremy Doski scored off a assist from Will Swain. Cook, assisted by Knute Johnson, also scored. Ryan King and Nathyn Horvath played well at midfield. Michael Biancardi was aggressive at Striker. Kevin Droniak and Sawyer Conrad were strong on defense.
Fairfield 4, White Lightning 2: Jeremy Doski scored the first Newtown goal and Daniel Hamula knocked in the next goal off an assist from Knute Johnson. Genti Lemini, Raymond Xue and Carter Nordman played well in the midfield. Patrick Rowley was very aggressive on defense. Peter Manfredonia came out of goal and played well on offense. Sawyer Conrad had several good saves in goal.
U14
The Oskars 3, Beast of the East 1: Albert Dean scored the three goals for The Oskars. Jake Locorotondo and Lukas Palumbo played well on offense and Tommy Shaker and Blake Untiedt anchored the defense. Craig Frigon scored the Beastâs lone goal, and Michael Unschuld played well. Michael Kraus anchored the defense.
Italian Stallions 3, Strikerz 1: For the Italian Stallions, Tim Kelly, Josh Tuffy and Evan Swain each scored. Will Carr and Ben Galassi each played outstanding defense, and Sean Watkins played an overall great game. For the Strikerz, Michael Senf scored the lone goal and Austin Isola led the offense. Nick Klein and Mike Stierle anchored the defense and James Leuci had a good game.
Beast of the East 6, ManU 2: Craig Frigon with had three goals, Ethan Perkus scored twice and Ryan Moyer added a goal in the win. For Man U, Brandon Marks scored two goals
Strikerz 5, ManU 3: For Strikerz, Charlie Poarch had a hat-trick and Nick Shannon and Zachary Weiland had one goal each. Peter Mihok played well at midfield and Tyler Lenox played well on defense. For ManU, Gavin Scallon had two goals and one assist, Anthony Vournazos had one goal and Joseph Stromsky had one assist.
