Andrew Zanzal

He was the father of John A. Zanzal of Newtown.

A Danbury native, Mr Zanzal was born on April 12, 1912, a son of the late Andrew and Parasca (Kotulich) Zanzal. He attended Danbury schools.

He was active in sports in his early years, having been a member of the Industrial Softball League. He also was part of the first group that successfully skated across Candlewood Lake from the Danbury Town Park to the New Milford Town Park many years ago.

Mr Zanzal was employed for 42 years as a gas meter repairman, first with the Housatonic Public Service Company that later became Connecticut Light and Power Company. He retired in 1976.

A World War II US Army veteran, he served with the 711th Tank Battalion. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and of St Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church of Danbury.

A very inventive person, he could best be described as a “Real Mr Fix It.” He also was an avid reader of non-fiction books.

Chase of Kensington; a brother, Stephen Zanzal of Danbury; two sisters, Anna Toth and Margaret Weyant Appell, both of Danbury; five grandchildren, Brendan Corbett, Patrick Corbett, Owen Zanzal, Sarah E.
