Stop & Shop Helps Food Pantries

QUINCY, Mass. –– The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co announced this week that the Newtown Stop & Shop store raised $4,310 for the FAITH Food Pantry in Sandy Hook and the Monroe Friendship Fund to provide hunger relief to area residents. All Stop & Shop stores in Connecticut teamed up with UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun to raise money through the sale of paper turkeys and fundraising events held at the store, as part of the annual Food For Friends campaign.

In total, Stop & Shop raised more than $1.1 million this year to benefit local hunger relief agencies and Second Harvest Food Bank partners in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, and New Jersey.
