Resident Honored For Scouting
The Catholic Scout Committee of the Diocese of Bridgeport has announced that Edward Wolf, Sr, of Newtown has been selected to receive the Bronze Pelican for his outstanding service to the spiritual development of Catholic youth in the programs of the Boy Scouts of America. The Bronze Pelican is an adult diocesan recognition approved by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting.
Mr Wolf has been associated with scouting since his youth. He earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light in 1970 and was awarded the Boy Scout Eagle Award in 1978. He has also completed numerous adult training programs in the Connecticut Yankee Council.
Over the years, Mr Wolf has been involved with Scouting in Newtown, where he has served Packs 70 and 370 in a number of roles including Cubmaster. He presently serves Troop 370 as Assistant Scoutmaster and is also Adult Advisor for Crew 100 and is a Unit Commissioner.
Mr Wolf served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for a Connecticut Yankee Council Troop at the 2001 National Jamboree and produced a video of that experience for the Scouts. He also served as First assistant Scoutmaster of the 2005 Jamboree.
