RSO Spring Concert Will Include
Guest Violinist & Conductor
RIDGEFIELD â Violinist Stephanie Jeong will be the featured soloist at Ridgefield Symphony Orchestraâs April 21 concert.
She is young, extremely talented and on the move. Fortunately, she is stopping in Ridgefield where she will play Paganiniâs Violin Concerto No. 1. Known for its intricacy as well as its exuberance, the piece still bewitches modern audiences much as it did when Paganini first performed it in the early 19th Century.
Also on the program is âShort Ride in a Fast Machineâ by Adams, Carmen: A Symphonic Synthesis by Bizet/Shchedrin, and âFarandoleâ from LâArléinne Suite No. 2 by Bizet.
The Bizet work will be enthusiastically conducted by George Hanlon, who was the successful Golden Baton Award bidder at last yearâs RSO Gala & Auction (this yearâs event will be May 11, providing once again the chance to conduct Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra).
Stephanie Jeong will no doubt cast her spell over the music much as she did performing it with the Reading (PA) Symphony Orchestra in January.
Sidney Rothstein, the music director and conductor of both RSOs (Reading and Ridgefield), said, âStephanie left both the audience and the musicians in awe with the way she gets around the violin, technically and musically.â Miss Jeong recently celebrated her 14th birthday.
The April 21 RSO concert will be in the Anne S. Richardson Auditorium at Ridgefield High School on North Salem Road (Route 116). Seating is reserved and tickets are available for $25, $30 or $35. Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra can be reached by calling 203-438-3889.
