Rock Ridge Country Club golf highlights:

Ladies Solheim Cup

On Sunday, Rock Ridge held the Annual Ladies Solheim Cup Tournament on what turned out to be a beautiful afternoon. Ladies competed in teams of 10 players in Pinehurst and Scramble formats earning points for their team. At the end of the Pinehurst matches, both the Punch and Navy teams were tied with 5 points a piece. The Scramble matches came down to the final group to determine this year’s winner. Both teams had collected 11.5 points with only one match left. The last match had Julie Davies and Barb Taylor representing the Navy team and Sarah Cappelli and Tara Kortze representing the Punch team. Davies and Taylor sunk a three foot putt to win not only their match, but also the tournament for the Navy team.

Men’s Golf

The Men’s monthly ABCD tournament took place on Sunday. The top three teams finished within three shots of each other, with third place determined by a match of cards. The winners, Bob McDonald, John O’Connor, Brett Whitton and Eric Ovendorf, finished at 11 under par for the tournament. With the Rock Ridge Ryder Cup tournament just around the corner, and just a few events left to earn points, these golfers gained 20 valuable qualifying points for winning this month’s ABCD.
